NSL UPDATE 01-19-2004

Correction to January 10 Nuclear Power School Start Year -
From the Naval Historical Foundation - 10 January 1956; according to R. G. Hewlett’s 1974 “Nuclear Navy” book that says on page 352, “The nuclear power school at New London opened in January 1956 with a pilot course for six officers and fourteen enlisted men. By 1958 the school was training four classes of more than one hundred enlisted men and two classes of about thirty officers each year.” They will correct their database. Thanks to all, including RADM Al Kelln who was in class #2 starting in June 1956, for identifying this error. I hope you enjoy remembering these historical tidbits, and thanks to the Navy News for publishing them daily.
