Wednesday eve the 18th "60 Minutes" will be airing their report on the USS San Francisco incident. My hope is to make aware the problem extends beyond seven men.

This is from a previous entry. Hope it helps. Believe me they know who else is involved.

Upon receiving the official investigation report I was disappointed to find so much of the report had been blacked out. It makes it look like an apparent cover-up. Most of the blacked out material dealt with the Sub notes. Two sources informed me that one of the findings that were blacked out confirmed that the Petty Officer who wrote the Sub notes was not qualified. The Echo chart that was used to write the Sub notes was the same used by the Nav persons on the San Fran. Questions asked during my "60 Minutes" interview included: Why didn't this P.O. check his work with the more detailed charts and why didn't his seniors check his work prior to forwarding the Notes to the San Fran? It sure appears to me the accident could have been prevented before the San Fran ever got underway.

Why is there no accountability here? If CTF-74 could have prevented this disaster (by being more careful in writing the Sub notes), then shouldn't there be some level of accountability or responsibility? I'm not looking for more officers to loose their commission or more petty officers to loose stripes. I guess I would just like to see those who are just as guilty of being derelict and negligent in their duties stand tall like men and admit their irresponsibility's and be accountable like the men of the San Fran was expected to do. We thank God every day the San Fran made it home and I wonder if she hadn't, how would the Navy handle 137 families clamoring at their door instead of just one. Thank you all for listening,Dan Ashley

Thanks for the respect. The honor goes to Joseph. Sometimes justice has to sleep with strange bedfellows. The media called me. Bigger people than me that are involved started this ball rolling. The Navy has absolutely refused to discuss "SUBNOTES" with me because it points such a big finger uphill. Yesterday I set Joseph's headstone and in tears I promised him I would see this thing through by what ever avenues I have to take. As I said to a local newspaper, "if my avenues don't lead to the truth, then the blood of my son will be on their hands and won't wash off". I know that's pretty strong language, but maybe that's what it takes. Up until "60 Minutes" come on the seen I refused any TV interviews to give the Navy a fair chance to convince me the right things would be done
