Hello Bill,

My interest in the upcoming reunion is due to my having spent a short period of time on the USS Raton and would like to find any of the crew who may remember that time.

In May 1959 a US Army Special Forces Team, I was assigned to in Okinawa, went to Taiwan for joint training with the Chinese Army. We boarded the USS Raton at a port in Taiwan, went to sea for several days of assault boat training then made a night landing on Taiwan in the boats.

I have spoken by phone with Mr. Campbell, a former crew member who remembers something of this exercise. He said he may have photos of the training and you could possibly have some in your collection.

I am thinking of going to Branson for your reunion in 04 and in hopes of making contact with anyone who may recall that time and training.
