New leadership to settle in at submarine group

Groton-AP, Apr. 16, 2003 8:40 PM) _ New leadership formally takes command tomorrow of a submarine unit of the US Navy.  Rear Admiral Joseph Walsh becomes commander of the Navy's Northeast Region and Submarine Group Two. He succeeds Rear Admiral Michael Tracy whose next tour of duty will be as director of the submarine warfare division of the chief of naval operations in Washington. 

Walsh has commanded submarine development squadron twelve in Groton and the USS Hyman Rickover in Norfolk, Virginia.  Submarine group two is the supervising command for more than half of the Navy's attack submarine force, comprised of five submarine squadrons, 31 submarines and waterfront support commands. 

A change of command ceremony is scheduled for 1 O'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Naval Submarine Base in New London.
