CDR Norman "Buz" Bessac, USN (Ret), died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Hospice in Austin, Texas. His family was in attendance. Buz was declining for several months but was in his own home with Joy until the day before he died.

Funeral services will be in Texas at a time to be announced. He will be interred in the Colombarium at the Naval Academy in early May.

He commanded Gudgeon (see the first Chapter of Blind Man's Bluff) and was commissioning CO of Scorpion (SSN-589).
