CDR Gordon W. Hutt, 67, of Birmingham and Huntsville, Ala., passed away March 8, 2005. A native of Lancaster, OH, he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country honorably for 28 years. He worked his way through the ranks from enlisted to the rank of Commander and earned a number of commendations and awards along the way. A submariner, he served aboard SS Cobbler, SSN Jack, SSN Sargo, SSBN James Monroe, SSBN Thomas Edison, and SSN Indianapolis. He graduated from Auburn University in 1963. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of Military Officers Association of America and American Radio relay League (KH6VL).

Service will be 2 p.m. March 14, 2005 at St. Stephen's Episcopalian Church, 3775 Crosshaven Drive in Birmingham, Ala. Interment will be at 3 p.m. June 13, 2005, at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to DAV of Alabama, Paralyzed Veterans of America or to St. Stephen's Church.
