Morse, 64, of Beeston Hill, St. Croix, and Millbrook, N.Y., died Feb. 7, 2005, following hospitalization for a heart attack.
After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy, Mr. Morse pursued a distinguished career in the U.S. Navy, commanding the nuclear attack submarine U.S.S. Whale and participating in the development of the Tomahawk Cruise Missile System. He lived in Waterford, CT from 1973 until 1998.
He was predeceased by his first wife, the Rev. Jane Morse, and their daughter, Sarah, in 1995.
In 1997, he married Mary Jane Wheaton and resided between Millbrook, N.Y., and St. Croix. Mr. Morse was active in civic affairs, education and the work of his local churches.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, his son Benjamin, and his sisters, Donna Ryman and Marjorie Prochaska.
A service in celebration of his life was held in St. Croix on Friday, February 11. His funeral will be held in Millbrook at a later date.
