Capt. US Navy (Ret.) Edward Ronald Losure, Jr., USN(Ret.)

Capt. US Navy (Ret.) Edward Ronald Losure, Jr., 61, of Aiken, S.C. died Monday, December 15, 2003. Funeral services were held December 20, 2003 at the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Alan Faulkner officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery on January 26, 2004 at 9 a.m.

Capt. Losure was born September 9, 1942 in Giddings, Texas to Edward R. Losure, Sr. and Clara Medack Losure. He was a graduate of Radford High School, Honolulu, Hawaii. He entered the United States Naval Academy on a presidential appointment, graduating with distinction in the class of 1964 with a BS in Marine Engineering.

He earned a Masters Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from Naval War College, Newport, R.I. and a Masters Degree in International Relations from Salva Regina College, Newport, R.I.

Capt. Losure served 27 years in submarines. He commanded the Nuclear Submarine USS Cavalla, homeported in Hawaii and USS Proteus Submarine Tender homeported in Guam.

He worked for Westinghouse Savannah River Company from February 1993 until August 2002.
