My first visit to the "winnie & Moo" [Horse & Cow] was in the summer of 1966, in company of MM1(SS) Jerry Schutt and QM2(SS) "Poospie" Duncan, we got in and settled down at the bar.

I was introduced to Bill Looby and a round was ordered, paid for.  The jute-box was batting out obscene lyrics  and the tranquility was shattered by and full-fledged  U.S. Army Green Beret.  We fell silent and he slammed his fist on the bar demanded service and promised and beating to any swabbie that wanted one!

He downed his drink in a single swallow slammed his fist on the bar and hollered karate! Everything on the bar bounced and he downed his second drink. He must have been enjoying the show as much as I was because he completely missed MM1(SS) Schutt backing away from the bar.

When Jerry was several yards behind him he picked up a stool and brought it down full force on this unsuspecting "Ground pounder's" head and shoulders, rendered him unconscious, and "Poopsie and Jerry" hauled his face down body, feet first out two the side walk, where he might have recovered, but he never came back!
