postcards opposing the anti-gun health care bills
that are floating around on Capitol Hill.
Please send in those postcards -- as it's very
important for legislative offices to see mounds of
gun owners' mail being dumped on their desks!
Now that Congress is back in session -- and the
President has given his televised push on health
care -- it is time for us to redouble our efforts.
To review the bidding:
Every major health care bill being considered in
Congress would require many (if not most) Americans
to be covered by insurance policies written by the
Obama administration -- so-called ObamaCare.
Among other things, ObamaCare will almost certainly
require, by regulation, that all gun-related medical
data be fed into a federal health database --
pursuant to a $20 billion program Obama insisted be
included in the $787 billion stimulus bill.
So, as a gun owner who doesn't want this data to be
trolled by the BATFE from a federal database, you
might say:
* "I'm not going to buy an ObamaCare policy."
or
* "I'm going to buy the type of insurance that I
want to buy."
Well, anti-gun Democrat Max Baucus (D-MT) has a
question for you: "How would you like to pay a
$3,800 a year fine?"
That's right. In a legislative draft released this
week, Baucus would fine you up to $3,800 for not
buying precisely the insurance policy which Barack
Obama orders you to buy.
So, what's going to be required under ObamaCare?
And how much is it going to cost?
Baucus isn't going to tell you that until after the
bill is passed. We do know that, under the Baucus
draft, a lower middle income family could be forced
to pay up to 13% of its income to buy an ObamaCare
policy. And, presumably, a middle income family
would be required to spend much, much more.
Take into consideration that the Baucus draft --
with its $3,800 per year fines and its ObamaCare
-related gun databases -- is the so-called
"conservative" bill. This is the one that they're
trying to get Republicans to sign onto because it's
so "conservative." The final Pelosi-written
conference report will be much, much worse.
Incidentally, Obama opposed forcing Americans to
purchase government-approved insurance during the
campaign, but guess what? He lied.
ACTION:
1. Write your Senators. Ask them to oppose the
anti-gun Baucus draft, with its requirement that
Americans purchase an Obama-approved insurance
policy or pay a $3,800 annual fine. This
legislative draft has not yet been publicly
released; however, several news agencies have
reported on its key features -- and these reviews
are widely available on the Internet.
You can use the

2. Distribute this email far and wide. There are
people that you know who should be involved in the
fight against socialized health care who are just

Charles Babington of the
Associated Press reported
yesterday about the Senate
Democratic leadership's
latest sleazy maneuver to
pass the anti-gun health
care bill. And this is
contemptible even by their
admittedly low standards:
White House and Democratic officials are quietly talking with key senators, hoping to craft a thread-the-needle strategy on health care with little or no help from Republicans. The officials are asking a handful of moderate Democrats to do something that might be hard to explain to voters: Cast a Senate vote that could be interpreted as favoring a bill that the lawmakers ultimately plan to oppose on final passage.
In other words, they are
trying to convince the swing
votes -- Ben Nelson of
Nebraska, Mary Landrieu of
Louisiana, Blanche Lincoln
and Mark Pryor of Arkansas,
perhaps Joe Lieberman of
Connecticut -- to "throw"
their vote on a pivotal
filibuster vote. Bottom
line: they are being asked
to side with the ObamaCare
supporters when it comes to
the all important "cloture"
vote -- which is the real
hurdle that ObamaCare
supporters must overcome if
they are to pass the bill in
the Senate.
The cloture vote determines
whether a filibuster will
continue or not, and it
requires the support of 60
Senators. Siding with the
ObamaCare supporters on the
cloture vote would allow the
"swing voters" to oppose the
bill on final passage, where
only 50 votes (plus the
Vice-President) are needed.
Under this scenario, the
moderate Democrats would
then go back to their
constituents and claim to
have opposed the anti-gun
health care bill because
they voted against it on
"final passage." But the
critical vote which will
have determined the real
outcome of ObamaCare will
have been the cloture vote.
They will claim that the
cloture vote was only a
"procedural vote."
It is hard to imagine that
anyone with an IQ over 50
would think anyone would
swallow this scumbag trick.
But, just to make sure, we
are asking our members to
let senators know what the
response will be for any
senator who casts a deciding
vote to pass the anti-gun
health care bill on cloture,
and then tries to trick
them.
ACTION: Please write your
Senators. Let them know
that the 60-vote-margin
votes on "cloture" are the
important health care
votes. No one will be
fooled by a senator who
votes wrong on these and
then casts a meaningless
vote against final passage.

Amtrak Amendment
Overwhelmingly Passes in the
Senate
An amendment to end the
complete gun prohibition on
Amtrak trains passed
overwhelmingly Wednesday in
the U.S. Senate by a vote of
68-30.
Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS)
offered the amendment to
allow law-abiding gun owners
to safely and legally
transport firearms when they
travel on Amtrak.
Current Amtrak regulations
prohibit firearms in both
checked and carry-on
baggage. But Sen. Wicker's
amendment prohibits any
federal taxpayer funding of
Amtrak if it does not allow
gun owners to transport
firearms on trains in a
manner similar to that of
airlines. Under this
amendment, travelers would
be able to transport a
firearm from Amtrak stations
that accept checked baggage
as long as the firearm is
declared and carried in a
hard-sided, locked
container.
The amendment was attached
to the 2010
Transportation-Housing &
Urban Development
Appropriations bill and must
now be reconciled with the
House-passed bill, which
does not contain the Wicker
amendment.

By now, members of Gun Owners
of America should have received pre-written
postcards opposing the anti-gun health care bills
that are floating around on Capitol Hill.
Please send in those postcards -- as it's very
important for legislative offices to see mounds of
gun owners' mail being dumped on their desks!
Now that Congress is back in session -- and the
President has given his televised push on health
care -- it is time for us to redouble our efforts.
To review the bidding:
Every major health care bill being considered in
Congress would require many (if not most) Americans
to be covered by insurance policies written by the
Obama administration -- so-called ObamaCare.
Among other things, ObamaCare will almost certainly
require, by regulation, that all gun-related medical
data be fed into a federal health database --
pursuant to a $20 billion program Obama insisted be
included in the $787 billion stimulus bill.
So, as a gun owner who doesn't want this data to be
trolled by the BATFE from a federal database, you
might say:
* "I'm not going to buy an ObamaCare policy."
or
* "I'm going to buy the type of insurance that I
want to buy."
Well, anti-gun Democrat Max Baucus (D-MT) has a
question for you: "How would you like to pay a
$3,800 a year fine?"
That's right. In a legislative draft released this
week, Baucus would fine you up to $3,800 for not
buying precisely the insurance policy which Barack
Obama orders you to buy.
So, what's going to be required under ObamaCare?
And how much is it going to cost?
Baucus isn't going to tell you that until after the
bill is passed. We do know that, under the Baucus
draft, a lower middle income family could be forced
to pay up to 13% of its income to buy an ObamaCare
policy. And, presumably, a middle income family
would be required to spend much, much more.
Take into consideration that the Baucus draft --
with its $3,800 per year fines and its ObamaCare
-related gun databases -- is the so-called
"conservative" bill. This is the one that they're
trying to get Republicans to sign onto because it's
so "conservative." The final Pelosi-written
conference report will be much, much worse.
Incidentally, Obama opposed forcing Americans to
purchase government-approved insurance during the
campaign, but guess what? He lied.
ACTION:
1. Write your Senators. Ask them to oppose the
anti-gun Baucus draft, with its requirement that
Americans purchase an Obama-approved insurance
policy or pay a $3,800 annual fine. This
legislative draft has not yet been publicly
released; however, several news agencies have
reported on its key features -- and these reviews
are widely available on the Internet.
You can use the

below.
2. Distribute this email far and wide. There are
people that you know who should be involved in the
fight against socialized health care who are just
sitting on the sidelines. Please forward this email

Charles Babington of the Associated Press reported yesterday
about the Senate Democratic leadership's latest sleazy
maneuver to pass the anti-gun health care bill. And this is
contemptible even by their admittedly low standards:
White House and Democratic officials are quietly talking with key senators, hoping to craft a thread-the-needle strategy on health care with little or no help from Republicans. The officials are asking a handful of moderate Democrats to do something that might be hard to explain to voters: Cast a Senate vote that could be interpreted as favoring a bill that the lawmakers ultimately plan to oppose on final passage.
In other words, they are trying to convince the swing votes
-- Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana,
Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor of Arkansas, perhaps Joe
Lieberman of Connecticut -- to "throw" their vote on a
pivotal filibuster vote. Bottom line: they are being asked
to side with the ObamaCare supporters when it comes to the
all important "cloture" vote -- which is the real hurdle
that ObamaCare supporters must overcome if they are to pass
the bill in the Senate.
The cloture vote determines whether a filibuster will
continue or not, and it requires the support of 60
Senators. Siding with the ObamaCare supporters on the
cloture vote would allow the "swing voters" to oppose the
bill on final passage, where only 50 votes (plus the
Vice-President) are needed.
Under this scenario, the moderate Democrats would then go
back to their constituents and claim to have opposed the
anti-gun health care bill because they voted against it on
"final passage." But the critical vote which will have
determined the real outcome of ObamaCare will have been the
cloture vote. They will claim that the cloture vote was
only a "procedural vote."
It is hard to imagine that anyone with an IQ over 50 would
think anyone would swallow this scumbag trick.
But, just to make sure, we are asking our members to let
senators know what the response will be for any senator who
casts a deciding vote to pass the anti-gun health care bill
on cloture, and then tries to trick them.
ACTION: Please write your Senators. Let them know that the
60-vote-margin votes on "cloture" are the important health
care votes. No one will be fooled by a senator who votes
wrong on these and then casts a meaningless vote against
final passage.

Amtrak Amendment Overwhelmingly Passes in the Senate
An amendment to end the complete gun prohibition on Amtrak
trains passed overwhelmingly Wednesday in the U.S. Senate by
a vote of 68-30.
Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) offered the amendment to allow
law-abiding gun owners to safely and legally transport
firearms when they travel on Amtrak.
Current Amtrak regulations prohibit firearms in both checked
and carry-on baggage. But Sen. Wicker's amendment prohibits
any federal taxpayer funding of Amtrak if it does not allow
gun owners to transport firearms on trains in a manner
similar to that of airlines. Under this amendment, travelers
would be able to transport a firearm from Amtrak stations
that accept checked baggage as long as the firearm is
declared and carried in a hard-sided, locked container.
The amendment was attached to the 2010
Transportation-Housing & Urban Development Appropriations
bill and must now be reconciled with the House-passed bill,
which does not contain the Wicker amendment.

House leaders call noisy disruption of healthcare forums
'un-American'
Reporting from Washington -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and
Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, insisting at the start of a
long and politically heated summer congressional recess that
healthcare reform can be achieved this fall, today are
calling the disruption of town-hall meetings by vocal
protesters "simply un-American."
"We believe it is healthy for such a historic effort to be
subject to so much scrutiny and debate," Pelosi (D-Calif.)
and Hoyer (D-Md.) wrote in a USA Today opinion piece
published today. "However, it is now evident that an ugly
campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health
insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings
and prevent members of Congress and constituents from
conducting a civil dialogue," the two leaders wrote. "These
disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not
just of differing views -- but of the facts themselves.
Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American."

Polls undercut scripted protest claims
The
White House's claim that large and boisterous protests
against health care reform over the past week have been
scripted performances, underwritten by industry lobbyists
and the Republican Party, continues to run into a stubborn
reality check: public polling on the matter.
For more than two weeks, polls have consistently shown
growing resistance to President Obama's reform proposals,
largely because of concerns about the nation's deficit and
debt.
"There are a number of statistically valid public opinion
polls that show that there has been a dramatic increase in
public concern about escalating deficits and debt levels and
our nation's increased reliance on foreign lenders," said
David Walker, the nation's former comptroller general.
Mr. Walker, who as president of the nonpartisan Peter G.
Peterson Foundation since 2008 has spearheaded an effort to
raise public awareness about the country's long-term fiscal
problems, said that the American people are "ahead of their
elected officials" in understanding the need to rein in
spending before expanding health care coverage.
|"They get it," he said. "Costs are out of control, and they
threaten the future of this country. And you cannot reduce
cost by expanding coverage. That's an oxymoron."

inciting angry mobs of a small number of rabid right wing extremists funded

country.
However, much like we saw at the McCain-Palin rallies last year where crowds
were baited with cries of 'socialist,' 'communist,' and where the birthers
movement was born - these mobs of extremists are not interested in having a

have said - they are interested in 'breaking' the President and destroying
his Presidency.
These mobs are bussed in by well funded, highly organized groups run by
Republican operatives and funded by the special interests who are
desperately trying to stop the agenda for change the President was elected
to bring to Washington. Despite the headline grabbing nature of these angry
mobs and their disruptions of events, they are not reflective of where the
American people are on the issues - or the hundreds of thousands of
thoughtful discussions taking place around kitchen tables, water coolers and
in homes.
The right wing extremists' use of things like devil horns on pictures of our
elected officials, hanging members of Congress in effigy, breathlessly
questioning the President's citizenship and the use of Nazi SS symbols and
the like just shows how outside of the mainstream the Republican Party and
their allies are. This type of anger and discord did not serve Republicans
well in 2008 - and it is bound to backfire again.

Community Organizer In Chief Suddenly Silences Free Speech
Once upon a time our president wasn't always down on dissent. After
all, he was a community organizer way before he ever became a
politician. "Go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors.
I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they
are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face,"
Senator Obama told his supporters on the campaign trail in fall of 2008.
So I suppose he was for bickering before he was against it? The left has
always loved community organizing-when it's their interest. Heck, they
are being lead by an expert in the field. But when regular folks gather
to express unhappiness in the form of a dissenting opinion to their
progressive agenda, they despise it, delegitimize it and seek to stop it
all costs. Grassroots are bad when the roots aren't firmly planted in
the liberal ground. Apparently bills in Congress aren't the only thing
Democrats haven't read in a while -- how about the Constitution?
Remember that? Isn't this enshrined in the Constitution -- freedom of
Assembly? Isn't this one of the foundations of our democracy,
organizing, getting like-minded people with the same views to come
together, whether they're in Birkenstocks or Brooks Brothers? Last time
I looked there was nothing "manufactured" about organizing for or
against a cause.

Obama Thugs Attack Citizens at Health Care Town Hall in Tampa
A town hall meeting to discuss President Obama's health care reform
descended into shouting and violence in a Tampa, Fla., suburb Thursday as
angry opponents clashed with event organizers. Close to 1,500 people came to
Ybor City to attend the session on health care and insurance reform
featuring Democratic State Rep. Betty Reed and U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor before
the event exploded into a near riot. According to local media reports, the
larger-than-expected crowd gathered outside the Hillsborough County
Children's Board building, where several hundred people, mostly in
opposition to government health care, began to loudly chant and scuffle with
organizers posted at doorways after the auditorium filled to capacity. A
freelance videographer was roughed up in an altercation, which damaged his
camera equipment and glasses, and at least one man was treated for minor
injuries after a scuffle left his shirt partially torn from his body.

Most Republicans have been "nice". I have been involved with the Tea Party
since Feb. We have had no problems at all until these townhalls began and
the Democrat Congressional Reps began to abuse the citizens. These citizens
are their bosses. Senators (Dem) are being disrespectful as well. One even
told an attendee to "sit down and shut up".
Citizens are frustrated because they have called, written, faxed, e-mailed
and made their opions known about this legislation. 84% of Americans like
their health care, their doctors and do not want the government to takeover
our healthcare system. This is a power grab. Our federal government is
tyrannical and we need, at the state level to exert our 10th amendment
rights, then appeal the 16th amendment (income tax), then repeal the 17th
amendment (bring congress and senate home and send one senator selected from
each statehouse) the president can be elected from these fifty.
WE MUST TAKE CONTROL OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
Talk to your state representatives and senators. We can stop this tyranny,
possible martial law, and put a stake through Obama's heart.
